Bog South Bavaria

I was out in a bog this morning to look for Vipera berus.

There were a lot of tadpoles, Mesotriton alpestris and Pelphylax in the little boglake.

Also a dragonflylarva with food

This natrix was the third that I found in the past 15 years in this area!!!

I found a lot of Zootoca vivipara, but they were hard to picture!

Zygaena purpuralis, hard to belive that this is a butterfly!

What a beautiful place! Where is it? The frog eating monster is the larva of Dytiscus marginalis a big aquatic beetle. Don't ever try catching it by hand! - I only did once.....
The Natrix is a real beauty!

Hello Wolfram,

thank you for the identification! I don`t touch anything in the water with more than four legs!!!!
The area is south of the city Schongau.
A nice place for berus, most of them in this area are dark brown or red brown with no bands.
