We went herping in the Bavarian Forest early this year. There was still plenty of snow on the peak of the "Großer Arber", but further down at a height of about 700 meters in was warm and sunny. We were actually searching for Vipera berus but the first snakes we discovered were two large female Natrix natrix. Later in the afternoon we found this wonderful silverish Berus-Male...
Isn`t he a beauty?
