Shortly after the epic USA adventure I went for a small trip together with herping amigo's Rick Bierman and Thomas Blauwbroek. We spent most of our time in beautiful Slovenia but also some time in sunny Austria and rainy Italy. A great little trip revisiting many familiar places and some new ones, as well as meeting up with several friends along the route.

For the entire trip report check my website: http://www.herpsafari.nl/tripreports-eu ... and-italy/

nice pics, Bobby!
But I'm not sure with your horvathi ;)
Looks like a muralis - from width of tailrings (all have the same width) to me :o

Seems like a lot of fun, would have loved to join you revisiting all those great places.

Two notes:
- the NE Italian Hyla is (although potential slightly introgressed) intermedia
- don't worry about not having seen berus of the "Italian clade" - those Slovenian ones (assuming they are from where we found some in 2010) belong to that clade

Great report Bobby and sorry for your rental car, it looks cruel! I´ve been at the austrian horvathi spot some days ago on the way back from krk island, sadly much too late in the evening, so again no horvathis only one single fire salamander.

OMG - Bobby has a driving license?
Apart from that I would have been glad to join you!

I was just guessing about the license, he's been heaving lessons for almost 3 years now ;)
