Newt ID

Postby Tomas Klacek » Mon Sep 08, 2014 7:48 pm

Hi,
can you help me with a newt ID? It was an old swimming pool full of alpine newts (East Bohemia). I did not look properly, took a few photos during night observation and now, when I´m looking at the photos I´m not sure with this one. Is it also alpine newt? Unfortunately this is the best photo I have.
Thanks.
T.

Yes! The small round black spots and marbled dorsal pattern give it away.

Thank you a lot, Jeroen. I was not sure, this one looked very different from others.
