Some time ago there was the news about that someone had released Lampropeltis in Grand Canaria e Lanzarote! :D

Today was the first suitable day available for reptiles, it was a very sunny day and 12 degrees C, unfortunately my car was being repaired and so did not visit the site until 16:00. The site was a local graveyard which holds a good population of Slow worms,Common lizards and a few Adders.I found a few lizards still hidden from the cold beneath stones but the real target was of course the Adder.I stood for a few moments surveying the scene and thought to myself "That looks a likely place", well I was not disappointed.

I know this is related to Central Europe, but the first Vipera Berus in Denmark, (that I know of), was spotted yesterday - Sat 06 march, 2010. That day we had 1-6° celsious, windspeed 7m/sec. The followning night we had as low as -15° celcious, even with snow in some parts of the country.

The picture was taken at approx. 5° celsious in the middle of the day - by Jakob Rademacher.

First few males of the year were out today in North England. Temperature about 6*C, slight cold wind. Nice day!

Yesterday the area was again completely covered in snow, -0.5 to -1.5°C although we had sun all day. I assume today could be an option, but I have to leave for a conference now.
