Easter herping and video

Finnish herping again. With only a small number of species around, we're stuck looking for the same species all over and over again (not complaining) in different locations and habitats. We went to our summer house for Easter and as the weather was lovely (Got to 22C), the herps were out.

Saw this pre-shed, blue male adder.

Came across something I had never seen before. Common frogs Rana temporaria overwinter mostly in the water at these latitudes as the environment is more stable than when going underground. We had a lot of ice this year and it seems that these individuals had chosen to stay in too shallow water and were either frozen through, crushed by the dropping ice level, or both.
