this is a publication in which it seems that some people found a melanistic V.ammodytes on Kefalonia island and captured it some years ago. Does anyone know something about such a story?

Well, here is one from Northern Croatia:
Not my find and not my photo. Actually I'm not sure whose photo it is, but this is one of the THREE black vammos that have been found at the same locality. From time to time we go there in the hope to strike it lucky, but so far without any success. But yes, black vammos do exist, and yes, they are extremely rare.
