Did you not try night road herping with the car?

Have you visited the abandoned villages you wanted to visit?

Konoba beach seems to be a beautiful habitat for reptiles!

Plenty of lizards - so why should you complain? ;)

I see that you had a hard time on Krk again... Starting at 5:00, terrible.
But did you try to search for Natrix tessellata? After all, it hunts in water and should not be
so much troubled by the heat.
(I mean, in September 2011 Marcel Kudláček found one, and ever since nobody has confirmed
this recent find. Not that many people tried, but still.)

No, tried ursinii again
end of joking
I remember something like that. But has this been published? is there any good picture?
I have seen so many tessellatas on Krk - from a distance of 5 metres and more. When coming close, each one has been a Grass snake :x

It has not been published, I got the information from Petr Vlček, who ran into this man quite accidentally
by the end of May 2012 and had not known him personally before that. The man sent me three photos of
his find, and yes, it is a tessellata for sure. Have a look:

They also gave me the locality, but that's left for personal messages, not for wider public in a forum, of course...
I'll send it to you, of course. You should have asked earlier, but it's never too late.
So far Petr Vlček and Boris Lauš made an attempt each to confirm the find, but without success.

Oh, yes, now I remember well!
I know the picture and the locality too ;)
Yes, and I have seen fishes there too. I'm not sure, but I think those are Mullets, Chelon labrosus.
The habitat (creek and its banks) are not appropriate for tessellatas. No rocks along the water, but thick vegetation.
But who knows :?

Regarding tha lack of stones, not many of them there, but still...

Regarding "But who knows?", that's why I asked whether you had a try. Stones or no stones,
one should not give up in this particular case, it's MUCH more promising than - you know,
V. ursinii at Jezero.

All three photos presented here are by Petr Vlček, 24 May 2012.

What is not!?
The reward, however, seems also less. Finding ursinii on Krk would provide an important conservation tool, while tessellata is hardly threatened.

By "promising" I meant "likely", not "rewarding".
