BTW, was that taken in situ (as the photos might suggest), or was it actually a carefully
arranged "herpetoikebana", as I like to call what we usually do with the caught animals?

It wasn't in situ or caught at all. We just tried to prevent that he flees and we could take some pictures.

prevented it from going away, during the whole photo session, without actually physically restraining it?

So we didn't had to pick it up or something he was quite calm remained in its place and just hissed. We just stopped him once with a snake hook.
The photosession wasn't long about 2-3min... took some pictures and then we let him escape.
