With 11 species on the island we were only interested in finding just two of these. Obviously the Viper but also the Cat snake,a species not found on past trips around the Balkans. With 3 whole days to find these two species we were confident that we would be successful. From 8am on day one till midnight on day three we searched North,South,East and West. All the likely areas, valleys etc plus some hot spots given to us by fellow herpers were searched both day and night. No Vipers or Cat snakes seen. Not even any DOR. The only thing found in a tree was a cat.

Finally had to admit defeat.

I call this one 'The Defeated Man'. Waiting for the ferry to Piraeus.

However, all the remaining 9 species were found, including the two rarer species of snakes, but few photo's taken due to our ever growing obsession with those target species.

Many thanks to the two fellow herpers for those hot spot tips.

Interestingly, many years ago in Cyprus I stumbled upon T. fallax by accident, at dark, when we were going to a restaurant for supper.
