Spiders and scales

Postby Vlad Cioflec » Mon May 03, 2010 9:47 am

Friday i went to my local Darevskia spot just outside the city to see how urban sprawl is affecting the area.

Habitat 1.JPG

The puddles were filled with lots of Marsh Frogs and Fire-belied Toads. But i was short on time, so no pics.

The Eastern Green Lizards were sunning themselves:

And Grass Snakes are always fun to pose:

Lately i am quite interested in spiders. Don`t like to touch them thow. But they`re sure nice to look at.

And here is a beautiful Meadow Lizard from a very healthy population.

Opos, forgot to insert two pics. Our three member fieldherping team ( yes; three, believe me ;) ) and a close up of my lucky t-shirt that translates ``we take only photos, leave just footprints``.

Hi!

Darevskia.. hope I'm going to see them some day..

[Edit... lots of spider-stuff deleted ]
Concerning the spiders - they are from the Lycosidae - Family, possibly both Pardosa lugubris (- group) (male and female)

Cheers
Gerald

PS: Moved it to the Balkan Peninsula Area ;-)

Cool T-shirt,
Very cool climbing Lacerta viridis
and extremely cool Darevskia (so far, your best shot of that species, I think)!

Regards
Peter

Here is another picture of the Meadow Lizard that i particularly enjoyed, due to i`ts `herp in habitat` looks:

Not to brag, but i kinda think this is my best shot of the species. But of course, you all are the real judge and jury. Now tell me watcha think. ;)

EDIT: the bluriness disappears once you click on the image.

@Ilian: I ment the L. viridis climbing on the tree...
@Vlad: Indeed - the best shot of that species I have seen so far. I have to go to Romania to see this species!
