Postby Francesco Tri » Mon May 23, 2011 10:17 pm

Vipera ammodytes few questions about:
- is mostly at night?
- what is the minimum temperature at which manages to digest?
- The different subspecies (ammodytes, meridionalis, ruffoi, Montandon) have different degrees of aggressiveness or irritability?

Thanks to all who answer me

Franci,

a) no realy night activity known, although vipers kept in outdoor pans might be active whole night round. In the field, ammodytes may be observed during late dusk.
b) as far as I know nothing known, resp. published.
c) not really differences, although young ones and pigmys (from Greek islands) are more "agressive" than larger ones.
