Paul is so exotic, I think there is Dutch blood running through his veins.

Love the report mate, great pictures as always!

@ Paul and Bobby: Loved to read your reports and see your splendid pictures.

But it is always good to know the only true story. Thanks GJ!!! Nobody puts thing in perspective like you.

Took me way too long to reply to this one, but I guess it´s never too late to express some appreciation...
The photos are great, I especially like the Emys orbicularis shot. And it is always nice to see Salamandrina!

Splendid report as well, made me consider to engage in some birding next time.

Cheers,
Laura

Hi Lauren,

Thanks, I liked the attempts for making the emys photos too, never easy, but very happy with the result.

About the birding....I am afraid the blue partly un-feathered bird already has a girlfiend, the rumors are that it is a too young little grey mouse with the name: Ienimini...

See you!

WARNING...

This trip was great in many ways, but we also had something not so great.

We returned the rental car just outside out the opening hours and they claimed that we made damage to the car, me and my herping buddies were absolutely sure that nothing happened to the car.

After some emails directly I did not get any response from Maggiore Palermo, so when I emailed Economy Car Rentals they made some effort to find proof for the so called damage. weeks later some lousy documents were send to me which absolutly does not proof anything.

After some google seconds we found out that this crime happens more often at Maggiore Palermo, when people return their car outside the opening hours nobody checks for damage when you are still there. So when they do it they find fake damages to charge their costumers.

We lost almost 300 euro to those people, maybe this info will help you herpers in future visits.

The Swiss group of the trip also had a great deal of annoyance: Our flight back home was preponed by four hours, but nobody had informed us. Moreover, it proved to be impossible to get in contact with Brussels Airlines (they obviously don't work on Sundays). We had to pay all the costs for getting back home via Paris by plane and by train. Even when considering the small refund, we lost more than 700 euros... So you better avoid Brussels Airlines.
