Because Bero implied snakes to be deaf, I thought I'd share this.

I've never implied anything like that. I just wanted to stress that lizards have ears, and probably
can hear the sound waves (much?) better than snakes. So I'd share this as well:

A snake can potentially also hear (see how I did that, write without shouting caps?) you passing by. There may be no difference between a glass lizard and a snake. But you did make said implication (= snakes cannot hear you passing by).

The “common knowledge” was, until recently, that snakes can “hear” (or “sense”), with their lower mandibles, the vibrations transmitted through the ground, and only that, while lizards can hear, with
ears, the vibrations transmitted through the air, just as we do. No wonder the latter option sounded
more convincing to us, humans.
Now we know that snakes can do it both ways – but we still don’t know how much they rely on detecting
sound waves with their puny “ears”. Probably less than on the “principal” channel.
In that respect, there is a difference between a glass lizard (or any lizard) and a snake.

Agreed to all except last two sentences. And unsure on the validity or usefulness of the link you provided, as it obviously does not factor in the new insights.

Which refers to
"Probably less than on the “principal” channel. In that respect, there is a difference between a glass lizard (or any lizard) and a snake."
What's wrong with that? Unlike snakes, lizards have "classical" ears, that detect air-transmitted vibrations.
For them, it's the only option, so one might presume it to have been perfected enough (by evolution).
Presumably much better than in snakes, for which it's only the (recently discovered) second option. Or is it?
So far, we don't know for sure, of course.

Doesn't it? OK, useful or not, "new insights" or not, but it demonstrates something that people might like
to hear. Nothing more than that, but also no less than that.
