Greetings from England (some photos)

Hi all. My name is Lee, I live in North West England, UK. I was a keen herper as a child (limited to local amphibians) and later began keeping exotic herps, and worked in the pet trade for a while. I gradually grew a little tired of reptile keeping as I got older and found other hobbies, but have since re-discovered my passion for herping and wild herps. Last year I saw my first sand lizard (L. agilis) (I still havn't been able to photograph them) and this year I photographed my first adders (V. berus).

Welcome, Lee :)

Thanks for the very nice adder pics - looking forward to more, sand lizards as well as other species.

Hi Lee and welcome.

All your adders are females and that first one has an unusual background colour, what county are they from? (don't tell me exact site) I guess you went to Merseyside for the Sand Lizards and they can be a pain to photograph, but if you see one and it shoots off, sit tight and it should come back out usually a couple of feet from where it disappeared.

Thanks for the replies. Carl, the adder photos were taken in Staffordshire. I thought the first one to be a male at first, due both to the colouration and the fact that it was more slender than the others. I will be going back to the site for another look soon, before they go into hibernation. The Agilis were indeed at Merseyside. I have been a few times, but always with the family which makes things difficult with young children. Mainly I have been herping in my home county of Cheshire - specifically looking for grass snakes (without any luck). The last Natrix I saw was virtually on my doorstep about eight years ago, and I have yet to photograph one. I have been enjoying watching Z. vivipara locally though.
