Hi !

I've been near Toulon and Nice in the beginning of July to see marine mammals, and that was a very nice experience, see it by yourself:

Very nice! Did you see these animals while working as a volunteer or as a tourist? I had a week volunteering at the AWF in Tenerife, back in November 2010. I didn't see as many species as you did - 'only' short-finned pilot whales and bottlenose dolphins, but it was still great! I can't imagine how small you must feel when in the presence of some of these giants (Balaenoptera, Physeter...)

Very cool Alex! The Caretta caretta is a really nice observation. I remember that some years ago, while crossing the sea to reach Corsica from Toulon, I could also observe many dolphins following the ferry boat in the water turbulences, it was a funny moment. Close to Porquerolles I also managed to observe whales, but not as close as you did here. Looking for those animals is a very relevant alternative to herping during those hot days. For those who plan to go in South of France, it seems that the weather will be more appropriate now...
