Hi people,

We are working in the trip report of Morocco 27 april-6 may. It will be prepared in 10 days I think. I upload some photos to ID. I think that it could be fun specially for Mario or Pierre-Yves that visit Morocco sometimes, although everybody is invited to try to know the species or the genus!!! Some photos are very easy, other medium level, other photos very very difficult and other I dont know what it is after consulting all the books!! (P. Geniez neither)...

I think that you have more interesting recent things to show in this forum than the head of a Daboia mauritanica :) We want to see the Israel trip right now!!!!

Sorry if I can seem a stupid but I would wish if Pierre Yves or somebody can find the 4 fails.

One of them is Cerastes vipera. We were herping in the perfect habitat during a night without wind. Many tracks of birds, invertebrates, lizards... but no tracks of Cerastes vipera. Mario can recognize the habitat, is perfect!!! I dont know why?? Maybe the moon¿? We didnt find Cerastes vipera in all the trip and this was the only sure species for me before arriving to Morocco...

Interesting!

At least in US deserts, it is considered rather crucial. This is one of the reasons why I chose the timing of my forthcoming Arizona trip in September like I did. Hopefully, it pays off. Would be nice to hear other people's opinions...

So one fail is Cerastes vipera - should be C. cerastes then!

Gabri, also during our visit in Merzouga, we found not one trail of C. vipera. Both specimens observed have been detected close to their hiding place.
As I know from my other trips before, it is much to early (1st half of May) to find C. cerastes, C. vipera, Lytorhynchus at night.
Visiting the area in summer and autumn, the dunes are full with tracks, and then you find the animals too.
You may not compare the coastal dunes, like Khnifis lagoon and others with the interior.
