trip report Morocco - April 2018

Postby Jeroen Speybroeck » Wed Apr 18, 2018 2:02 pm

Ventured into a to me largely unknown continent and had a suboptimal but still pleasant trip.

Here’s the full report ===>

Sounds like you had a lot of fun, and the family too!

Thanks for the trip report - nice pics.

For the success: you have seen more species on this trip than I have seen in this year so far...
Cheers

Just used to a better result :P
Just 48h after we left, Frank D found about 6 Spalerosophis and 4 (2 DOR, 2 alive) Telescopus... I know I shouldn't complain that much, but that just stings... ;)

I guess I still have to learn a lot about herping Morocco. I just can't remember a European herping trip with less than 3/4 of the species found.

Can you remember a European herping trip to an area completely new to you with the limitations induced by bringing families, admittedly poor preparation and timing and ditto lack of interest?

Sounds like a confession - a guilty plea in a bid for leniency?

Furthermore, generally speaking, 75% of 60 species is more difficult than 75% of 30 species...

Anyway, I enjoyed the report, I'm envious of the Bitis, and you piqued my interest in Barbarophryne :D

Timing, yes, but the other factors didn't really influence our results.
