Nice bit of sun on the south coast of England today, despite the chilly wind. It felt right for reptiles and didn't disappoint.

After being so cold, damp and grey this year, we are finally up and running.

A rather distant Common Lizard,


and a total of seven Adders at two locations visited. (This is two weeks earlier than previous years.)






Also saw a Grass Snake out taking the rays but missed the photo. Sand Lizards shouldn't be too far off...

As ever so often, first adder points for the UK, congrats!

Congrats ! Cant´t wait to find here the first ones. But since last day winter is back here in SW Germany

we had a few good days the last week but nothing here.
no problem, its more relaxing as long as the all sleep

Was hoping to go out again this weekend but it looks as if Winter is set to return with icy blasts and low temperatures.

Will post L.agilis photos if I get any.

It's been slow this year but things are starting to stir in Greater London as well.





I also found 7 Common frogs(all juveniles) and 3 male Palmate newts under a rotten log.

Nice to see reptiles showing now inland.

Sand lizards found basking today. Later than usual at this particular site.

Sand lizards photographed at a site in Dorset yesterday. Several out enjoying the sun on their backs.

Closing off 2016 for me with a late Adder basking out on the 14th December. The weather today on the south coast has been unusually mild with some weak sunshine. Warm enough to bring this female out to lay in the sun.

This snake is from the same area as those seen at the start of this post back on 10th February.





I'm sure that's all for 2016 from me. Looking forwards to 2017...
