Atavistic?!
adjective: of, relating to, or characterized by atavism; reverting to or suggesting the characteristics
of a remote ancestor or primitive type
.

So, Sale has just found something like a Coelacanth, and nobody reacts?! Just - look how nice frogs I've
photographed these days, thank you...?! I'm deeply disappointed... What kind of people are you all?

Regarding the (finds & photos of) amphibians themselves, very, very nice indeed. No joking.

My cat was playing with this young sand lizard untill i rescued the lizard, it was not harmed fortunately.

This year I saw at least 2 pairs of Bufo bufo bufo in amplexus in my garden ponds, at least one pair laid eggs. The photo below was taken one pair was traveling from one pond to another- probably the previous one had not enough things in water to wrap eggs around, or maybe toads did not want their tadpoles to compete with tadpoles of another pair which probably laid eggs there. As you see the female is molting.

Now let me post underwater photos of smooth newts taken in a garden pond of my friend. Temperature of air was 14*C but it was cloudy so I had to use flash many times which made pics unnatural. I am not very content with the pics, I hope to do better ones in near future.

Hello,

The "horn" of the ammodytes is missing...wich is justify the adjective.
That's probably why Mario used this word ;-)

Awesome photos, Ulrich! What a great experience to have.

A warm day in London means the adders spent most of the day in the shade/sun mosaic, but they were still quite visible. Males and females have sloughed now, although no sign of mate-searching or guarding behaviour was observed.

Also saw a fox out hunting in the day
