In 2016, Yannick took me to a trip in the French alps in the search of the concolor Vipera aspis. Although it was August, the temperature was pretty low and we feared we had driven more than 3 hours for nothing. Fortunately, luck was on our side with 2 beautiful concolor Vipera aspis :D

Even without snakes it would have been a nice journey

And the second one was a beauty

Is Vipera aspis bilineata already a specie?

Beautiful place, and, about the lineate/concolor aspis, I do not remember having seen something like that in any picture till now.

P.s. It seems to be fourlined and not simply bilineata...

Yes it is! :D :D
Is that a population or just some individuals?

I'm wondering as I'm not used of finding vipers in mountains ;) in what kind of places you found them -seems to me pretty open- among boulder/grasses interfaces??

Thanks
Guillaume

I like these asps as much as the scenery, really beautiful. Did Yannick find this population himself or was it a known population already? More important question: when do we go together?

The concolor asps of the French Alps have been know for a while, but their location hasn't been divulged.

But are we talking about a single population or were these pics taken in a different valley?

I think it's the same, but not entirely sure...

To my knowledge there are a few different populations.
