Hello,

This some pictures of a quick trip (one week) in the french department of Aude, near the oriental Pyrenees : https://flic.kr/s/aHsmdEDS64
This was during the last cold episode, so we didn't saw lot of species.


The most beautiful calamites we ever saw :

So no Pelobates or Discoglossus pictus (too cold) but a lot of Triturus marmoratus in migration (first time seing it for me).

The question is how often it doesn't.

... According to MONTALENTI
(1932, 1933) and HERTWIG et al. 1959 only tadpoles of the parental combination B.(P.) viridis male x B. (B.) bufo female
are able to survive the first 12 days after
hatching (zit. in Duda 2008).

So it didn´t work!

I found once a Bufotes cf. viridis in amplexus (on top) of a Pelophylax spec. (male) in Cyrene (Libya) - I wonder if it worked
