Abstract:
The study of biometric, pholidotic, pattern and coloration features of 832 ocellated lizards supports the validity of the subspecies from S.E. Spain Lacerta lepida nevadensis Buchholz, 1963, and makes evident the existence of another subspecies in N.W. Iberian peninsula, whose name should be, given its preference, Lacerta lepida iberica (Lopez Seoane, 1884). The distribution of the two named subspecies coincides with the most contrasting bioclimatic regions on the distribution area.
